The Protector® Airo™ Filtered Fume Hood has a compact design that avoids potential challenges of existing laboratory conditions while still providing space, utility and options of a traditional hood. It features all of the characteristics of Labconco Protector Hoods including the patented Eco-Foil™ Air Foil with Clean-Sweep openings to pull inflow air into the hood in non-turbulent air streams, fiberglass-reinforced panel liner, by-pass airflow design, electrical receptacles and service fixtures. The Clean-Sweep™ Sash Handle and Sash Tracks bleed air away from the user’s breathing zone. These features are paired with a design often relegated to small ductless enclosures - a lower height, compact footprint that requires no ductwork.

Rather than using application-specific carbon filtration, the Protector Airo uses Neutrodine Unisorb Filters, the most comprehensive, safety-driven carbon filter available. The Neutrodine Filter has been tested and found efficient on over 500 chemicals, and may last two years or more before requiring replacement. Because these filters allow the simultaneous handling of solvents, acids and bases, the Protector Airo may be used for a broad range of general chemistry fume hood applications. Plus, the use of these filters offers an eco-friendly solution to exhausting chemicals into the atmosphere. Options include acid or formaldehyde sensors or HEPA only for applications requiring particulate protection.

Because the Protector Airo requires no connection to ductwork, initial building infrastructure change costs are minimized and allows the hood to be placed in hard-to-duct areas. Should laboratory configurations change, the Protector Airo may be relocated without disrupting existing heating and air conditioning systems. Furthermore, its lower height allows it to fit in spaces with ceiling heights as low as 8 feet - a full 12" less than traditional hoods.

User safety is maintained through numerous built-in features that constantly monitor and prevent unsafe conditions without relying on user practices or modifications. These safeguards include multiple audio/visual alarms including filter breakthrough and fan failure. GFH Filtration Technology allows the Protector Airo to perform beyond the typical DH III ductless fume hood. The control box is conveniently located on the front of the hood and can be controlled by an app on the user’s phone.

Constructed with a glacier white powder-coated steel exterior and a chemical-resistant, fiberglass-reinforced, composite panel liner. The vertical-rising sash is a single piece of tempered safety glass with cable pulley and tracks with Clean-Sweep™ airflow openings. Sash stop is at 16" sash opening height. Sash opens to 28" high for loading.

Accessories information: Each hood requires a work surface, base cabinet or stand, and Neutrodine Unisorb Filters (sold separately). The number of filters needed depends on the hood's width. Optional accessories include HEPA Filter and prefilters.

Ordering information: The Protector Airo benchtop Filtered Fume Hood is available in 3' and 4' widths. The 3' width is available in two exterior depths: 31.7" and 37.7".

Caution: The Lifetime Payback Questionnaire (LPQ) form is required for all Protector Airo Filtered Fume Hood orders. It must be completed in full, submitted, reviewed, and approved before an order can be processed. Lead times do not start until the LPQ is approved.
