Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells (hMSCs) are “adult stem cells” believed to be perivascular in origin, residing in close association with capillaries throughout the human body. They are believed to provide critical links in the normal tissue repair and regenerative processes and to be responsible for anti-inflammatory modulation of the immune system effected through secreted chemical signals.

Originally characterized from bone marrow, hMSCs have now been found in a variety of tissue sources including umbilical cord blood, dental pulp, adipose tissue, amniotic fluid, placenta, and urine. Interest in harvesting hMSCs for their immunoregulatory and anti-inflammatory properties for therapeutic uses has grown consistently over the years. Most recently, considerable interest has arisen in the use of hMSCs in the treatment of COVID-19, where they appear to be capable of strongly modulating the “cytokine storm” associated with infection.

Join us for an informative webinar conducted by Dr. Michael L. Moeller, PhD, former Chief Scientific Officer and current Senior Scientific Consultant for American CryoStem, a biotechnology company focused on the development of autologous cellular therapies based on adipose tissue-derived hMSCs. Topics covered include the basic biology of hMSCs, applications of hMSCs, and tips and tricks for the culture and phenotypic maintenance of hMSCs.

  Presented By:

Mike Moeller

With 20 years of experience in the adult stem cell market as a researcher, inventor, and business development professional, Dr. Michael Moeller has played an integral role in advancing the field through research and the commercialization of multiple cell culture media products. As the Chief Scientific Officer of American Cryostem, Dr. Moeller invented what is now commercialized through PeproTech as PeproGrowTM hMSC media. His current responsibilities include expanding PeproTech's media line and growing market share within the defined media space. As a scientist with experience across the full spectrum of product development, optimization, commercialization, and marketing, Michael is a welcome addition to  PeproTech.
